After winning the Van der Schroeff Award in January, Professor Maarten Pieter Schinkel has now been chosen by UvA Economics and Business students as the faculty’s winner in the 2018 UvA Lecturer of the Year competition. He won by a narrow margin ahead of lecturers Maurice Koster and Alex Kuiper.
The Faculty Student Council and Dean Han van Dissel placed Maarten Pieter Schinkel in the spotlight in recognition of his achievement. Two students who voted for him had this to say: ‘His lectures are clear, motivating and interesting’, and 'He is engaged with the topics addressed, creates interest with the subject and shows how it impacts our lives.'
Students benefit every day from enthusiastic, helpful and inspiring lecturers. This is why this award, a joint initiative of the UvA, the Central Student Council and the ASVA Student Union is organised annually. As the winner at faculty level, Maarten Pieter Schinkel is eligible for selection as UvA Lecturer of the Year during the Education Day on 31 May.
